This page explains how recipes on The Botanical Pour are written and kept up to date, and how products are chosen.
Recipe testing
- The recipes on this site are newly written. They are updated over time as Jasminejoy makes and refines them in her own kitchen.
- Recipes are written for UK kitchens: metric first (ml and g), with tsp and tbsp for small amounts, and ingredients you can buy in UK shops.
- Times in the recipe card are the real times the method takes, including steeping or infusing. If cooling or chilling isn’t included, the card says so.
- If a recipe changes after testing, the recipe card and the post are updated together.
What we will never do
- Invent testing, reviews, quotes, statistics, studies or prices.
- Add star ratings or nutrition figures that don’t come from real, verifiable data. Ratings only ever come from real readers.
- Say or imply we’ve used a product when we haven’t.
- Make health or medicinal claims about any drink or ingredient.
How products are chosen
Equipment and ingredient suggestions are there because they make a recipe easier or better. We say plainly whether we’ve used a specific product. We don’t show prices, because they change often; check the retailer for the current price.
Herbs, flowers and safety
- We use herbs, flowers and spices in everyday culinary amounts, bought food-grade or positively identified as edible.
- Posts with botanicals carry a short safety note, and we flag common allergens (for example nuts, sulphites in some vinegars, citrus, and honey for babies under 12 months).
- We avoid concentrated extracts and essential oils in drinks.
- Nothing on this site is medical advice. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication or have a health condition, check with your GP or pharmacist first.
